Audio Engineer

Pixel Toys are looking for an audio engineer to help us create wonderful, entertaining games, with high-end graphics, built for mobile & VR platforms. As one of the most important members of the team, you will be responsible for working with the creative leads and the art team to take the vision for our games from concept to completion. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a flexible environment, and to add your own ideas into the mix in order to create the most enjoyable game possible.

We are seeking a talented Audio Engineer with a drive to create flawless audio experiences to join our dedicated Audio team and support our AAA VR & mobile titles. You’ll be responsible for implementing our audio in-engine, bridging the gap between the Audio and Code disciplines.


    • Implementing and polishing audio code to facilitate the needs of the Audio Team
    • Aid in the technical design of gameplay systems which may require audio input
    • Create and trigger audio events in both Unity’s audio engine as well as middleware, such as FMOD
    • Continue to improve the core audio code ideology in collaboration with the Pixel Toys Tech team
    • Create tools for cross-disciplines to aid in the implementation of audio-related content. This includes areas such as subtitling, music scheduling and environmental audio source management
    • Represent audio interests within cross-discipline feature groups
    • Work closely with our new Audio Team to deliver AAA audio for our games


Ideally, you will have most or all of the following:

    • Worked professionally in Unity3D
    • Excellent knowledge of C#
    • A positive and outgoing personality
    • Experience of audio programming
    • Experience of prototyping and rapid iteration of features
    • Solid understanding of coding processes, standards and methodologies
    • Good knowledge of audio middleware solutions
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • A passion for playing and making games

We’ll be really pleased if you have:

    • Good knowledge of field and studio recording
    • Knowledge of Unity’s DOTS
    • Professional DSP programming (C++)
    • Familiarity with Foley recording and application
    • Demonstrable sound design skills
    • Experience using digital audio workstations, such as Reaper
    • Experience developing on iOS or Android
    • Experience developing games in VR
    • Experience and/or training in agile development
    • Experience with tools development
    • Experience mentoring and/or managing other programmers
