Lead/Senior Backend Programmer

Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent almost a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile and VR gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Gunfinger, Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Drop Dead and Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War.

As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers.

We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!

The Role:

An opportunity has arisen for a Lead or Senior Server Programmer to help us create and support fun and engaging gameplay. Working with other teams, you will ensure systems are built to successfully interface with network system APIs, as well as developing robust APIs to interface with Social and Network systems.

This is an opportunity to join an exciting team at a critical time in the projects’ development and work to push the limits of the latest mobile and tablet hardware, playing a pivotal role to help shape the system’s design as well as the selection of services we use and the architecture and components we choose to build alongside them to support our games.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on developing key systems in the server codebase of the game and will be actively involved in working with discipline leads in setting standards and defining budgets. We welcome your ideas in order to create the most sophisticated and easy-to-use back-end systems for game development.

About you:

As a self-motivated, strong team player who is proactive and with a personal desire to deliver at the highest standard you will also have proven experience within a similar role, with broad experience working across a wide variety of systems on the backend, Cloud systems and distributed systems. You will have a passion for solving technical problems, as well as a solid understanding of coding processes, standards and methodologies.

On top of this, you will be a creative problem solver, an excellent communicator, and someone who always shows high levels of enthusiasm and a talent for supporting teams and delivering quality code and systems.
